Intel DX58SO Extreme Series Motherboard- First Look

The newest of Intel’s Extreme Series motherboards is the DX58SO featuring the latest chipset X58 Northbridge and paired up with the Southbridge. The desktop board is built in ATX format to appeal to games who build their own systems. This series is the beginning of a new family of processors from Intel the Core i7 socket 1366 and claimed to be the best for graphics and gaming. This is will be the standard for pro gamers playing today’s video games like Far Cry and Call of Duty: World At War. The motherboard is capable of running on true triple channel DDR3 memory and full support for ATI CrossfireX technology. Also the new design has a different feature of the DX58SO is having no frontside bus and using QPI QuickPath Interconnect.  Here are some of the DX58SO desktop board specs-

I built a new tower using the DX58SO board in combination with an Intel Core i7-920 2.66Ghz cpu processor, Corsair extreme memory and ASUS video graphic card- EAH4850 HD512 in an Ultra mid tower case with 750 watt power supply. The operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate 32. After assembling the components I loaded the software and the system started smooth the first shot with no problems. The video is like watching TV and the machine is very fast. Intel recommends using three DDR3 in the four slots arranged in three channels, when this system was assembled I used on 2 sticks of memory which acts like 2 channels. Intel doesn’t make it clear in the manuals what happens when 4 sticks of memory is used. The mother board included an optional cooling fan to attach to the IOH heat sink, it is illuminated with a blue LED. At the time I purchased the factory boxed motherboard, TigerDirect included the game Far Cry for free.

ASUS Video Card EAH4850 TOPHTDI/ 512Mb Radeon HD4850  Review

I just built a new tower and included the ASUS video card EAH4850 TOP/HDI 512m Radeon DH4850 in the system. This card is quick and watching dvd’s on your computer is virtually the same as watching it on a television. As soon as I installed it the difference was like night and day compared to my other video card, I was amazed at the great color without fine tuning it.
